Mutter Paneer
Lip smacking paneer dish in a cashew nut and tomato rich restaurant style gravy, served with delicious jeera paratha
Ingredients
2-4 medium tomatoes
1 cup cubed paneer
1 cup green peas
5-6 soaked cashew nuts
1 medium onion
2 cloves garlic
1-2 green chili
1 small piece of ginger
2-3 tbsp oil
1 tsp jeera
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
1-2 tsp garam masala powder
2 tsp coriander powder
Salt to taste
Pinch of sugar
1-2 tsp lemon juice
Fresh cream to garnish
Method
- Cut the tomatoes into big cubes and keep aside. Roughly chop onion, garlic, green chillies, and ginger
- In a pan put the oil, once the oil has heated up, to that add the jeera. Allow the jeera to fry until brown, then add the chopped garlic and allow it to cook for a few seconds. Once the garlic is brown, to that add the chopped onion. Once the onion has turned golden brown add the green chili and ginger and stir for a few minutes.
- To this mixture add the tomatoes, soaked cashew nuts, and saute for a 1 minute. To this add the red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, kashmiri red chili powder. Mix it well and allow it to cook on medium flame for about 4-5 minutes. Once the tomatoes have become soft turn off the heat and allow it to cool for a few minutes.
- Once this mixture is cool, using a hand blender, blend the mixture into a fine paste. Your restaurant style gravy is now ready.
- In a pan add some oil, and stir fry the cubed paneer. Allow the paneer to turn slightly golden brown from the edges. Remove excess oil, now you can add the gravy to the paneer.
- In a different vessel heat some water, and boil the green peas adding to salt, till they are cooked. Once cooked strain the water and add the green peas to the gravy.
- On low heat allow the mutter paneer to cook for a few mins.
- Garnish with fresh cream and coriander leaves. Serve Hot!
